Camron Amboree commits to Oral Roberts

Shadow Creek senior point guard Camron Amboree has committed to Oral Roberts. I first saw Amboree as a 5th grader before he went viral as “Baby Steph Curry” with his crazy shot making and court vision. He’s always had an immense skill set, being an elite shooter, great ball handler and decision maker. He took off nationally this spring & summer with the DFW based summer team, 3D Empire, coached by Shawn Ward. I asked Cam how he felt about his commitment and what it means to he and his family.

OTR: How does it feel committing to ORU?

CA: “Committing to ORU feels great. maybe one of the best decisions I could have made in my life. It’s a blessing to be able to commit to a school and a family that wants me to come in and rock and all I can say is I’m blessed to be able to have the opportunity to play there.”

OTR: What was it about ORU that was so special to you?

CA: The things that were special about ORU is first the coaching staff, since the first day they contacted me they stayed in touch with me every single day! I coach Springmann didn’t call me, then coach Mills did and vise versa, they stayed committed to me from day 1 of my recruitment. They never missed a game especially when they were able to be there! On my visit the players, family and staff there was great, it just felt like home, and that’s all I could ask for. I just wanted to be somewhere I would fit in. I love the way they run things and play and it couldn’t have fit my style of play better.”

OTR: How do you feel that you can contribute to their program?

CA: “I feel like I can contribute to the program by helping them win our conference and turn us into a better team. Of course we will have a chance to play in March Madness and I feel like I can help get us there, I know I can. And hopefully compete for a national championship. I wanna contribute on every level of the floor and take us as far as I know the program can go.”

OTR: What was your experience playing for 3D Empire these past two summers?

CA: “Playing with 3D these last 2 summer was life changing!! Without them and coach Shawn I wouldn’t be where I am today. We played all the top competition and became known faces around the country and that’s all you can ask for is a chance to show and prove yourself. Playing with 3D gave me that opportunity I wouldn’t trade these last 2 summers for anything, the fights, the frustrations, great and good moments, all were worth it and came into play and coach Shawn and that team got me where I need to get to, to be successful.”

OTR: Heading into your senior year, what we can expect from Cam Amboree and Shadow Creek?

CA: “Heading into my senior you can expect to see Shadow Creek compete for a state championship, that’s the ultimate goal this year. I’m goin to do my part with this team and win. Expect me to be a team player and someone who is going to do what ever it takes to get the job done no matter what. Look out for Shadow Creek this year we’re coming for that ring!”

He also had some people he wanted to thank. “Coach John Lucas been with me since day 1
but coach Teddy Wheeler has been the biggest help more than anyone this past summer. I just wanna make sure I acknowledge him. I of course want to thank my mom and dad for always supporting me and being there for me through it all!’
