4 Star Guard Donovan “Stretch” Williams cuts list to five

The next time I go to Vegas I’m calling Donovan Williams, because the way he placed the bet on himself this spring/summer I know he would have me right! Deciding to play with the Houston Hoops this summer, he picked up nearly 30 major scholarship offers. He just narrowed down his school list to the final five. Texas, Texas A&M, Miami, Georgia, & Arizona State. He spoke to OTR Exposure about his recruitment & other things.

OTR: What were some of the factors that led to your decision to choose these 5 schools?

“Each school had everything that I was looking for in a school. I have a great relationship with each staff, I get a chance to play in one of the best conferences in America regardless of what school I choose, the academics are great, and the coach has a plan for me that I can clearly see and get on board with.”

OTR: With your list out of the way what are you looking to accomplish your senior year?

“State. The only goal for my senior year is achieving every basketball players dream of winning a state championship and with our group at Elkins, that is very much possible this year.”

OTR: You bet on yourself this spring, how does it feel knowing your gamble paid off?

“Well my dad always says “good things come to those who are prepared” I went into this summer and competed. I earned everything I received this summer so I’m just relieved that the decision me and my parents made was the right one.”

OTR: How do you think you can help a college program, what about your game translates to the next level?

“Versatility, being able to play AND guard multiple positions is what I think will translate to the next level. I have a simple game, I’ve learned that less is more and I think all the coaches in my top 5 appreciate that about me.”

OTR: One on One RIGHT NOW.. who’s winning.. you or big sis?

“Me. There’s no debate about it”

OTR: When are you looking to make your college decision?

“Hopefully it’ll be a easy decision after I take my visits but whenever I’m 100% positive on where to go whether that October or March that’s when I’ll do it.”
