SWAIC Denver Session Standouts

Denver, Colorado

In the last stop before the SWAIC conference tournament, several players decided to step up and help their teams as seeding was on the line last weekend in Denver. Here are the standout performers.

Wendell Hampton (Shaun Dumas Academy)– Big fella stepped up in a major way for SDA, including a 17 point, 10 rebound game in the win vs Colorado Prep Black. Was a monster on the glass and showed his range, knocking down several 3’s.

Logan Watts (Good Vision Academy)– Still not quite 100%, he played very well for GVA, attacking the rim and using his physicality and athleticism to get paint touches. Also rebounded the ball at a high level.

Katrelle Harmon (BFL Prep)– Continued his hot scoring streak averaging 20.6 ppg over 3 games. Very skilled and can play either guard position, is one of the better freshman in the country.

Trent Burns (PSAT)– Continues to get better and better. Has picked his motor up and finished everything around the rim with dunks! Had a monster 28 point and 10 rebound game in a win vs Inglewood College Prep.

Yassin Abdelwahab (Spring Creek Academy)– If energy and toughness were a person it would be him. Carried his team last weekend without their leading scorer, Nazar Mahmoud, even scored a game high 30 points and finished with 10 boards in a win vs Good Vision.

Me’Khai Taylor (Shaun Dumas Academy)– The junior guard provided additional scoring last weekend for SDA. Uses his body well to rebound the ball and defend, & his steadily improving outside shot was on display, going 3-3 from 3 point lane in a big win vs Spring Creek.

Abdul Bashir (Colorado Prep)– It’s going to be hard to keep him off of the 1st Team All SWAIC the way he’s played this season! Scored 22 points in the 1st game and then 31 the next, he went an impressive 13-21 from 3 in these two contests.
