SWAIC New Orleans Session Standouts

New Orleans, LA

After three SWAIC stops, the cream is starting to rise to the top. Some players continued their hot hands while others have emerged and look to make a push as the conference tournament looms. Here are some of the standouts from the NOLA session.


Darkaun King (TACA)
– Had his best showing this SWAIC session. Averaged 17 points, 4.5 rebounds and shot 51% from 3. Multifaceted player who’s a mismatch problem.

TK Lawson (PSAT)– A homecoming of sort for the Louisiana native. He averaged 15 points & 5 rebounds and was a steady force for PSAT.

Caden McDaniel (BFL)– Scored it in bunches to the tune of 20 PPG over the 3 games. With his size & shotmaking ability, he made it extremely difficult for defenders this weekend.

Angel Sonnier (Good Vision Academy)– A flat out bucket. He keeps Good Vision in every game with his ability to put the ball in the basket. Scored 28 in a big win vs Shaun Dumas Academy.

Jaquez Thornton (Colorado Prep)– Plays with so much passion and enthusiasm for the game. Averaged 19.6 for the weekend. Love the way he competes!

Nazar Mahmoud (Spring Creek Academy)– The leading scorer in the SWAIC started slowly in his 1st game but picked it up the 2nd two games. Averaged 18.6 PPG for the weekend.

Vladislav Karasev (Spring Creek Academy)– Toughness personified. Big body kid who does all of the little things, while becoming the secondary scorer. Is always really good on the glass, and finishes everything inside.

Deng Akok (BTPA)– Love his motor, on the offensive glass. Runs the floor extremely well, finishes tough shots in traffic. Averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds.

Christian Jones (PSAT)– Caught fire in the 1st games, made great reads and was the catalyst on both ends for his team. Scored 24 & 18 points respectively and averaged 6.5 assists.

Aliou Diallo (Colorado Prep Black)– Exploded for a session high 35 points and 9 rebounds vs TACA. Tough, heady playmaker who can really make shots. One of the top 5 scorers in the SWAIC.

Derek Burditt Jr. (Shaun Dumas Academy)– Was solid all 3 days for SDA. Averaged 13 points to go along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Was a calming force and came up with big plays when they needed them.

Kevin Paul (TACA)– Big, physical interior player who was a force inside all weekend. Can guard on the perimeter and is a really good rim protector. Had a double figure rebound with 11, including 4 offensive boards vs Colorado Black.
