The day the temp decided to drop in Houston so did the 1st session of the 2025 SWAIC Season. Here are some of the standouts from Day 1.
26’ 7’1 Mathias Baye (Marian NITC), big fella looks way more fluid and mobile than he did this summer and impact on the game was on display early & often. Started his team off with two big dunks to get them going. Impressed everyone with his paint protection as he blocked several shots outside of his area. Also ran the floor well for some nice finishes. One of the more intriguing prospects in his class. Big time stat line of 17 points, 16 boards and 6 blocks.

2030 Niles Nuemann (Good Vision Academy) (Regional), the youngest player in the SWAIC put on a show yesterday going for 30 points and a win. What he may lack in stature, he more than makes up in confidence and fearlessness. Niles has consistently shown he can play against older and stronger competition.

‘27 6’7 Landon Veal (Good Vision Academy), this kid has a ton of potential and he seems to be finding his groove. Loved his activity around the rim, when he locks in he’s a special rebounder due to his timing and athleticism. Also showed good touch from 15 Ft and in, and is getting more comfortable finishing over his left shoulder on the block. Finished with 15 points & 9 boards.

‘25 5’11 Montana Wheeler (Xavier Academy), put his team on his shoulders after trailing 25-10, and sparked a 43-23 run. His defensive quickness was on display as he picked the pocket of several guards en route to easy lay ups. Scored 19 of his game high 29 points in the second half, going 4-7 from 3. Completely dominated the game, also leading both sides in assists with 7 assists.

‘26 Felix Ford (EOP White), caught fire early & often scoring 22 points. Played extremely hard the entire game & his team fed off of his energy. Stepped up as his team needed him. Went 9-14 from the field, going 3-5 from 3.

‘25 G Raken Vargas (EOP Red), veteran PG that has consistently put his team in position to win games. Scored it on all 3 levels, and made plays for others to get them going. Scored 14 points in 21 minutes.
