Reviews with Rob (Madison vs Houston Austin 1/13/20)

District 23-5A is one of the more competitive districts in the area. Monday night’s Madison vs Houston Austin game would be no exception. The first quarter started out slowly with Madison’s c/o 2020 wing Adam Kanafani bringing his trademark intensity and defensive effort. In the second quarter Houston Austin’s c/o 2020 guard duo Greg Jones and Demarcus Wiser played extremely well. They made timely shots and caused havoc on defense helping the Mustangs lead at halftime 26-22. In the second half, it became the battle of the inside vs the battle of the outside.

Madison’s c/o2021 Brian Myles was a man amongst boys in the paint. He continually grabbed rebounds and scored with his back to
the basket to the tune of 28 points and 20 rebounds. Meanwhile, Austin’s c/o 2022 Kevin Destin was letting it fly from the outside. He hit six 3’s that led 22 second half points. He would finish the game with 29 points in very impressive fashion. The game would eventually go to double overtime. Timely buckets by Madison’s c/o 2020 Tim Moore Jr and heady defense plus on point assists by Madison’s c/o 2021 Nehemiah Ratliff put the Marlins up for good. Madison would eke out a thriller 81-78.

Adam K finished with 20 points, 4 rebounds and 5 steals. Tim Moore Jr would finish with14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Nehemiah Ratliff would finish with 11 points and 5 assists. Demarcus Wiser would finish with 14 points. 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Greg Jones would finish 14 points and 3 steals.
