RCS Sports Hoopsgiving Preview

The annual RCS Sports HoopsGiving is upon is and it’ll be spicier than ya Big Mama dirty rice! Here’s the OTR Exposure preview.

9:30  Kinkaid (3-0) vs Ridge Point (5-1)

It will be my 1st time laying eyes on the light coalition back court of 2023 Jaland Lowe and 2022 Jordan Williams. Williams is the downhill scorer and Lowe has really good feel for a young fella, coach Torrance Botts has them undefeated so far this season. Ridge Point has made it known that I slept on them earlier this season, and you know what.. I did, but now I’m wide awake after an impressive two weeks. They have beaten Morton Ranch, Dickinson, Marshall, & Elkins, and the big fella Foluwaso Fashoro has been great inside.

OTR Exposure Predicition: Kinkaid 67- Ridge Point 72

11:00  Atascocita (5-1) vs Westbury Christian (3-5)

Coach David Martinez & his Eagles of Atascocita are feeling good after a 5-0 run through the Texas Invitational tournament last weekend. Senior Dylan Dawson was named Tournament MVP, but in the championship game juniors Tom Hart and Kaleb Stewart came up big.  They will be moving up our latest rankings, which will be released later today. Westbury Christian started off the season a little slowly, junior Chris Felix, senior Kehlin Farooq, & soph Aaron Williams have been holding down the fort for Ja’vier Francis, who’s slowly returning from an injury.

OTR Prediction: Atascocita 70- Westbury Christian 60

12:30  Concordia Lutheran (10-1) vs San Antonio Wagner (2-0)
Interesting match up here, Concordia Lutheran has had a super start of the season with junior RJ Keene leading the way. Senior Kenyon Holcombe is a mismatch night mare and the vaunted 1-3-1 is causing other teams major problems. They will have to bring their hard hat & lunch pale this game as Journee Phillips and Wagner will surely play with high intensity and toughness. The guard of play of Braelon Seals & Jasean Jackson will be key for the Thunderbirds.

OTR Prediction: Concordia Lutheran 75- San Antonio Wagner 72

2:00  Port Arthur Memorial (3-0)   vs  Cy Creek  (3-4)

Sophomore guard Amaree Abram has been playing beyond his years for PA Memorial to start the season. We all know about the front court of Kenneth Lofton Jr and Nate Clover, but Abram is becoming the player we thought he could be. Cy Creek duo of DJ Richards and Chas Kelley are a formidable back court and they had a strong showing at the TX Invitational last week. The addition of Nate Martin is like when the dessert comes out on Thanksgiving, it makes it complete!

OTR Prediction: PA Memorial 68- Cy Creek 66

3:30  St Thomas (0-2) vs Silsbee (0-2)

St. Thomas is coming into the game after a tough loss to Davis. Junior guard Johnathan Massie is coming into his own and is being asked to be an Alpha & carry this team. They have a daunting schedule so he’ll have to continue to keep stepping up. Silsbee’s Braelon Bush is one of the most exciting players to watch in the area, his 65 point explosion a couple of weeks ago got everyone’s attention!

OTR Prediction: St. Thomas 77- Silsbee 70

5:00  Jack Yates (3-1) vs San Antonio Cornerstone (0-3)

A lot of talent in this game, and word on the street is athletic guard Gerald Doakes will be playing. This Yates team is the #1 team in the state and one of the best in the country. The three headed monster of Darryl Brown, Rubin Jones, & Antwon Norman have been outstanding. They will have to continue to be great because Cornerstone is coming in with their own smoke! Junior Jerrell Colbert, sophomores Tre White and Austin Nunez are looking to make a statement in the H!

OTR Prediction: Yates 107- Cornerstone 100

6:30 Morton Ranch (3-4) vs Dickinson (3-3)

I don’t know if I’m more excited about the hospitality room or this LJ Cryer vs Tramon Mark match up. These two HM scoring guards will bring all of the fireworks. Both teams always get their opponents best shot every game, and their records reflect that. Marcus Williams and Deuce Guidry of Dickinson should be back in action after missing the last couple of games in the Texas Invitational. Eddie Lampkin has been playing better, back to back doubles, I expect him to put his stamp on this game.

OTR Prediction: Morton Ranch 88- Dickinson 90

8:00  Houston Christian (5-3) vs Mayde Creek (2-3)
Junior Noah Kon is the clear cut leader now of HC, he’s carrying this group with his play as of late. Coach Ron Crandall and staff always find a way to get players to compete and make shots. Juniors Kobe Haynes and Elijah Bernstein have been picking up the slack and making winning plays for them as well. Mayde Creek senior Rommell Williams is going to have to have a big game in this for his team to have a chance.

OTR Prediction: Houston Christian 68- Mayde Creek 60
