OTR’s Starting 5 1/7-1/11

I’ve taken an extended break from the Starting 5 but I’m back in the mix! I’m a day late, but here’s last week’s Starting 5.

2021 G Jakoby Flores (St. Thomas Episcopal)– Gotta show love to the small schools too! Flores scored 41 vs 1st Baptist and 42 points vs Bay Area Christian last week. I said earlier in the year he would lead the city in the 3 point attempts and makes. I don’t care who you play against, when you score more points than minutes in a game it’s impressive.

2019 G Josiah Johnson ( Big Sandy HS)– The best player in the greater Houston area you’ve never heard of! Went BESERK last week with a 58 point 18 rebound, 7 assists, & 7 steal game vs Hawkins HS. He’s averaging 27. 8 PPG, 10.6 RPG, and 5 assists.

2019 G Sahvir Wheeler (Houston Christian)- #WatchTheThrone, with him being out for the majority of the year, I was waiting to see when the future Texas A&M PG would have a breakout game. He went for 47 points & 12 assists against FT Bend Christian. Look for him to take the reigns and lead his team back to the SPC championship.

2019 F John Argue (Clear Lake HS)– I saw him at the Stars & Stripes event about a month ago and really liked his energy. He’s been solid this year  for a deep Clear Lake team. He had a really impressive double double with a 22 point, 20 rebound game vs Clear Brook. Need to go see him a little more.

2019 G Jordyn Adams (Silsbee HS)- The Austin Peay signee has been really having a phenomenal senior year. Silsbee has played a tough schedule to get them ready for the playoff run and an imminent match up with Yates. He messed around and got a triple double vs Hardin Jefferson, with a 19, 10r, 10 assist game.

2020 G Antwon Norman (Yates HS)– Has been an alpha all year for Yates. He’s been playing at an all city level. Had a big 33 point game vs Booker T. Washington last week. Tenacious, tough, and has more skill than he’s given credit for.
