OTR High School Girls ShootOut Recap

Our 1st ever Girls event went extremely well! The talent was alive and well in the building! I was excited to see these young players compete and get after it! Here are some of my takeaways.

2022 G Ashlon Jackson (Hardin Jefferson) When you 1st lay eyes on her, you can tell she that she has the “IT” factor! One of the top sophomores in the country, she made things look easy all day. Unbelievable IQ & skill set for a player her size.

2020 G Delberta Guillory-Smith (Hardin Jefferson) Shot the leather off of the ball, knocking down eight 3’s! Another long, skilled wing, who’s receiving interest from UNO, & other Southland schools.

2020 F Alexandria Haymon (Goose Creek Memorial) A strong forward who can score inside/outside. Big time rebounder & isn’t afraid to mix it up with anyone. Don’t let the sweet smile fool you, she plays with an edge. Paced her team in a tough loss against Beaumont United.

2022 F Jazmyn Sostand (Beaumont United HS) Wiry forward, who guarded multiple positions. Great in transition & on the boards. Really loved her versatility and toughness.

2022 G Princess Anderson (Beaumont United) Pesky defender that was all over court. Fearless driver that can get to any spot on the floor off the bounce. Extremely high motor/high energy player.

2020 G/F Kamryn Jones (Magnolia West) Strong, skilled, multifaceted forward that led Magnolia West in both games, her 1st game she finished w/ 17 points 11 rebounds vs Hardin Jefferson. The soon to be Houston Cougar has a bright future.

2021 G Cameron Dill  (Beaumont United HS) Superior athlete, can defend multiple positions. Uses her quickness, speed to get easy scores in transition. Big time shooter as well.
