2019 John Lucas Resources Camp Right Way

National scouting director Ben Perkins, per usual, assembled some of the top 7th and 8th graders across the country for this year’s John Lucas Camp Right Way in Houston at the MI3 Center. Here are some of the guys that stood out!

5’11 2024 Cedric Hardridge (Victory Christian, Tulsa, OK) has the “Kyrie Package”. Tremendous isolation scorer who uses his handle to cause havoc in the lane. Really good size for a lead guard. Good athlete who also excels in the open court.

5’8 2024 Abdul Rahman Olajuwon (The Village School) showed an improved handle and jumper. Has been playing with more confidence. Once he gets stronger physically, he will be tough to stop offensively. Got a few steals and deflections. With his length, he has a chance to be a good defender.

5’3 2024 Justin Begg (Annunciation Orthodox School) when watching him play you realize good things do sometimes come in small packages. High IQ, shooting ability, and scoring prowess. Plays well beyond his years. One of the top PG’s in his class.

6’0 2024 Zion Pipkin (Wells Middle School) great size and super skill set. Understands how to play, was tough to stop getting to the rim. Uber athlete, has a chance to be special. Unique feel for the game. In the conversation for the top player in his class in the greater Houston area.

5’5 2024 PG Montana Wheeler (Hopper Middle School) has no shortage of confidence.. dominated camp with his IQ & play making. Maestro supreme, orchestrated his team both days. If you know his bloodline, lineage, & work ethic, it’s easy to see why he may be the next elite PG.

6’4 2024 K. Annor Boateng (Pinnacle View Middle School, Little Rock, AR) another physically gifted prospect. Unbelievable motor and big time toughness. Was a terror on the offensive glass, & a freight train in transition. Talented player who is on pace to be one of studs in Arkansas.

6’1 2024 Landon Brown (Huffines Middle School, Lewisville, TX) big guard with a strap and really good handle. An offensive machine who shot it well with range. Strong frame allows him to get past defenders and finish through contact. Easily one of the better players at camp.

6’5 2024 Liam McNeely (Richardson North Junior High, Richardson, TX) was a PROBLEM on both ends of the floor… super skilled, played inside and out.. great motor.. no fluff in his game. On pace to be a DUDE! One of the top prospects in DFW area.

6’2 2025 De’Shon “Gucci” Scott (Pro Vision Academy) is a man child.. athletically superior than his peers. Strong, aggressive, scores easily inside. Very tough to stop going down hill.

5’8 2025 Cameron Smith (MCC Homeschool) really good in transition, & his confidence has improved. Scored the ball well both days. His game has made leaps and bounds, love his handle.
