John Lucas Be Elite Camp Evaluations Pt. 2

Here are some of the John Lucas Be Elite Camp prospects that weren’t from Houston, that I evaluated in numerical order. The thing that jumps out about these guys are the size & athleticism. Several guys 6’7 or taller that stood out.

#31 Arthur Kaluma 6’7 (Universal Academy, Dallas, TX, 2021)– Big, versatile forward. Handles the ball really for his size, can step out & knock down 3’s, & can create space to get to get his shot off. Also plays with a ton of energy on the defensive end.

#59 TreJaun Holloman 6’1 (Cretin Durham Hall, Minneapolis, MN, 2022)– Swagged up, extremely confident lead guard who went toe to toe with Bryce Griggs. Tight handle, has range, & is electric in the open court. Has an elite level feel for the game.

#60 Jaden Jones 6’7 (TXVA, Dallas, TX, 2021)- Has a big time combination of size, skill and athleticism. Posted up smaller defenders, and pushed passed bigger forwards on the break. Can also guard multiple positions.

#74 Chanse Robinson 6’0 (Lincoln Prep, Ruston, LA, 2020)– DAWG, that’s the only word that I can use to describe him. His 1st game he was trying to feel everyone out but by that 2nd game, it was on & poppin. A blur, strong, got to the cup anytime he wanted, AND he had it on a string. A monster on the football field as well.

#85 Avery Brown 6’2 (Northfield Mount Hermon, Gill MA, 2021)– Has a knack for scoring. Put the ball in the hole at all 3 levels. Good body and uses it keep defenders at bay.

#94 Austin Nunez 6’0 (Randolph HS, Garden Ridge, TX, 2022)– Shot the leather off of the ball. Unlimited range allows him to create separation from defenders. Used P&R better at camp than he’d showed this summer. Got to spots on the court, and proved he can score against high level defenders.

#102 Marquise Rice 6’5 (Durham Academy, Creedmoor, NC, 2022)– A physical specimen who scored inside and out. Big time athlete, had several “wow” dunks. An ISO nightmare, played with a ton of energy. Extremely high motor.

#108 Tre Carroll 6’7 ( Charlotte HS, Port Charlotte, FL, 2021)– He was everywhere, and did everything! Rebounded, defended, scored, hit the open man, competed, etc, etc, etc. He was the ultimate glue guy on his team, & without him they wouldn’t have won a single game. A Swiss army knife type of guy.

#110 Wade Taylor IV 6’0 (Lancaster HS, Lancaster, TX, 2021)– Big shot maker, tough, fearless when going to the rack. Plays with great pace. Understands time and score really well. One of the top PG’s in the state in the class.

#121 Micah Peavy 6’7 (Duncanville HS, Dallas, TX, 2020)– His perimeter game keeps improving. Made 3’s off the dribble, soared to the rim, & was very efficient offensively. Was really impressed with his shot making on both days.

#127 Duncan Powell 6’7 (Desoto HS, Desoto, TX, 2021)– An efficient face up 4 man who understands how to play. Recognizes mismatches. Hit several 3 pointers when bigger guys were guarding him, & attacked smaller defenders. Really good ISO player.

#129 Rashad Holmes 6’0 (John Curtis HS, Westwego, LA, 2020)– Very shifty guard that gets downhill to create havoc. Thrived in transition, & outstanding in finding his teammates for open layups. Tough, hard nosed defender.

#139 Harrison Ingram 6’7 (St. Marks HS, Dallas, TX, 2021)– Another do it all player, his perimeter play has improved & he’s more comfortable at taking his guy off the dribble. Can also guard multiple positions. His size, skill set & versatility sets him apart.

#140 Franck Kepnang 6’11 (Westtown School, Mt. Vernon, NY, 2021)– Looks like another big time prospect out of “Money Earnin Mt. Vernon”. Dunked EVERYTHING inside. Fierce competitor and rebounder. Dominated the paint on both ends of the floor. High major level player.

#151 Bretner Mutombo 6’11 (Lincoln Academy, Suwanee, 2021)- Long athletic forward with a soft touch. Good back to the basket game, along with a really nice face up counter. Ran the floor well, and challenged shots at the rim.

#153 Tre White 6’6 (Little Elm HS, Dallas, TX, 2022)– A member of the highly touted 2022 class in Dallas. Got right to it on the 1st day. Scored in bunches & any way he wanted. Gifted offensively. Would like to see him focus more defensively. Already a household name.

#155 Jordan Walsh 6’6 (Faith Family Academy, Cedar Hill, TX 2022)– Loved his energy. Did all of the little things for his team. Good athlete, that can dribble, pass & shoot at a high level. I saw him guard the 1-5 with ease.

#160 Niels Lane 6’5 (The Perkiomen School, Freehold, NJ, 2020)– Was a BUCKET, got to the rim, hit pull ups, hit 3’s, & scored in transition. Has a really good feel for the game.

#165 Michael Foster 6’8 (Milwaukee Washington, Milwaukee, WI, 2021)– Long, lanky athletic forward who plays with high energy. Finished over the top with a couple of lob dunks. Great help side defender. Was a Windex man.

#172 Elijah Hutchinson-Everett 6’10 (Immaculate Conception HS, Mount Clair, NJ, 2020)– Big bodied kid with soft hands and a nice touch. Can step out & make the 3. Space eater inside, knows how to use his body to seal and finish for easy baskets.

#174 Davon Townley 6’5 (North HS, Minneapolis, MN, 2021)– I nicknamed him “The Finisher”. Anything inside the paint was a basket, contact or no contact. Strong frame, & a very good athlete. When he went down the lane dudes got out of his way.
