Christmas Crossover Preview

December 21-22 @ Delmar Fieldhouse

Eleven years ago, Houston area high school teams shocked the Nation after dominating competition from across the country.  On December 21-22, 2018 history has a chance to repeat itself!  Jim Hicks (Rcs Sports),  Glenn Smith (MetroPlexHoops), and myself, Marcus Sloan (OTR Exposure), are proud to present a new holiday high school basketball showcase – The Christmas Crossover, which will take place the weekend before Christmas, December 21 – 22nd @ the newly built 5,000 seat Houston ISD’s Delmar Fieldhouse.  Each game during the two day event will feature a Houston team versus an out of town opponent!

Out of town teams:  Alexandria Peabody (LA) – 2018 state finalist,  New Orleans Crescent City (LA) – 2018 state finalist, Sulphur Springs (TX) – went 30-5 last season and returned 8 players, Dallas Universal Academy (TX)  – features 2 of the state’s top sophomores Arthur Kaluma, & Jamil Kofer,  Dallas iSchool Entrepreneurial Academy (TX) – one of top TCAL privates in the state,  features Rivals Top 150 big man 6’11 Johnathan Aku, and 6’8 F Quevian Adger, C.H. Flowers (MD) – feat. one of the tallest front courts of any DC area public school.  Plus, Oklahoma’s most promising young program, Lawton Christian (OK) which features top ranked PG Devon Barnes &  Atlanta Holy Spirit (GA) – feat. 247Sports.com #1 ranked player – Anthony Edwards, NBAdraft.net projects as the #1 pick of the 2020 draft.

Greater Houston teams:  Concordia Lutheran – 2018 TAPPS state champion feat. Kansas State recruit Montavious Murphy and Sam Houston State signee Pierce Hellums, Eisenhower – feat. future TSU Tigers Ja’Mare & Ja’Mere Redus,  Elkins – guided by future University of Texas star Donovan “Stretch” Williams,  Episcopal – 2018 SPC state finalist feat. Rivals Top 125 PG Jahari Long,  Houston Christian – features Rivals Top 75 PG & Texas A&M bound Sahvir Wheeler, Morton Ranch – feat. Greater Houston’s top scorer LJ Cryer, & Rivals Top 150 C Eddie Lampkin, Sam Houston – 134-19 over the past four seasons with two of Houston’s top unsigned seniors – Marlon Jackson & Chris Green,  Shadow Creek – Houston’s top ranked team feat. Hartford recruit PJ Henry,  & unsigned senior Akin Newton, Texas Christian  featuring one of the state’s tallest front courts Sam Ayomide 6’11 soph, Mohamed Ngom 6’10 frosh, 6’9 ESPN Top 10 F Jerrell Colbert &  5’10 frosh PG Austin Bengini, The Woodlands Christian – 2018 TAPPS State Champions, and they feature a trio of juniors, 6’8 Ej Jones, 6’4 Nash Golaszewski, and 6’1 Bakari Lastrap. Yates, coached by state championship coach Greg Wise, features juniors Rubin Jones, & Antwon Norman, & senior Joquarius Valrie. Foster gets back it’s two dual sport football/basketball players Rueben Fatheree, and Tayvion Peavy, and along with the freshman back court of Cameron Amboree and Chancelor White they will be a formidable bunch.

SCOUTING / VIDEO SERVICES:  In effort to control the flow of traffic on the floor, Houston ISD athletics has stressed that every credential requester shall provide (via email) a copy of their approval letter from the NCAA.  No credential will be granted to anyone (in amateur media) who has not been approved by the NCAA.  Meaning, only the individual names on the approval letter from the NCAA will be considered for credentials to The Christmas Crossover.  Send email to –  [email protected] (put Media Request in subject line)
