Next level Class of ’26 unsigned seniors

Houston, TX-

By now it sounds like I’m beating a dead horse, but the transfer portal has made it increasingly difficult for HS seniors not ranked in the top 100 in the country to have a real chance at playing at the next level. However, the 2025 class has shown that taking HS players might not be as bad after all as several players who were not ranked highly nationally are having breakout seasons as college freshman. In the greater Houston area several unsigned seniors are making their case as to why they should be playing at the next level. Here are some of the standouts:

6’6 Carter Shipman (Katy Tompkins)– a big, physical wing who impacts the game with motor, toughness, and versatility on both ends. He plays through contact, finishes around the rim, and rebounds in traffic, while doing the dirty work that doesn’t always show up in the box score. High-energy competitor who brings winning intangibles and matchup problems at the high school level. Highlighted by a strong scoring performance and all-tournament honors at the McDonald’s Texas Invitational, he projects as a tough, high-motor no brainer Division I forward.

6’3 Jose Martins (Seven Lakes)– is a poised, high-IQ point guard who runs Seven Lakes’ offense with precision, pushing tempo and finding teammates in rhythm. He uses a low-to-mid range pull-up and timely drives to break down defenses, while his disciplined on-ball defense and communicative floor leadership make him a true floor general at every level. The head of the snake on the top HS team in Texas.

6’2 Elijah Garrett (Beaumont Westbrook)- is a crafty, floor-general point guard who attacks the rim with pace and control, consistently creating offense for himself and others. His advanced feel for tempo and pick-and-roll execution, paired with tough-nosed defense and a reliable midrange jumper, makes him a leader who elevates Beaumont Westbrook’s team performance. Last year’s state 5A MVP is back like he never left after injuring his shoulder and missing last spring/summer.

6’7 Daniel Patton (Cy Falls)– is a smooth scoring 4/3 with a crafty blend of shot-making ability and IQ, knocking down shots off the catch and creating looks off the bounce. His length and instincts allow him to defend multiple positions, rebound aggressively for his size, and be a consistent playmaker in Cy Falls’ offensive flow. Has fit in quite well since moving in from out of state, the unquestioned leader of a young Cy Falls team.

6’4 Josh Goodwin Jr. (Cy Ranch)– is a skilled scoring guard with a knack for creating his own shot and knocking down perimeter looks, showing confidence in late-clock situations. He plays with urgency, attacks closeouts, and uses his quickness to disrupt defenders, while his on-ball pressure and commitment to team defense make him a two-way threat for Cy Ranch.

6’2 Byron Bibbs (Pearland)– is an athletic, downhill scoring guard who attacks the offensive end with aggression and finishes through contact, showing creative floater combos and a developing three-point stroke. He competes on both ends, uses strength to bully smaller defenders, and brings energy that ignites Pearland’s transition game.

6’4 Devan Brown (Pearland)– is a long, smooth wing with a high-motor defensive presence and playmaking ability off the catch. He spaces the floor with clutch perimeter shooting, competes for rebounds above his size, and consistently makes the extra pass to keep Pearland’s offense flowing.

6’7 Macodou Diouf (Xavier Academy)– is a long, physical forward who impacts the game with his rebounding, rim protection, and motor, cleaning the glass on both ends and altering shots inside. He runs the floor hard, finishes through contact, and uses his length to convert second-chance opportunities and be a matchup problem in the paint, especially when he turs over his right shoulder.

6’5 Ramsey Sato (Woodlands Christian)– is a high-energy playmaking guard for Woodlands Christian who creates offense with quick reads and a sharp first step. He sees the floor well, makes timely decisions in transition, and defends with active hands, giving his team a stabilizing presence as both a scorer and facilitator.

6’1 Jaylen Singleton (Crawford)– is a confident lead guard at Crawford HS who controls tempo with poise and attack-first instincts. He pressures downhill, finishes at the rim in traffic, and uses savvy vision to set up teammates, while his competitive on-ball defense helps fuel Crawford’s back-court intensity. He’s tougher than bear meat.

6’2 Patty Mpouli (Summer Creek)– is a long and athletic CG who impacts the game with effort and versatility on both ends. He uses his length to rebound above his size, protect the paint, and get downhill in transition, while showing developing shot creation and a willingness to attack closeouts that gives him upside as a multi-role contributor.

6’10 Sam Mosquera (EOP)– is a true back to the basket big man who alters the paint on both ends with his size, rim protection, and rebounding instincts. He finishes with authority around the basket, cleans the glass on the offensive and defensive ends, and uses his length to deter interior scoring while showing flashes of post footwork that make him difficult to match up with.

6’4 Sean Jimmy-Ducksworth (Ft. Bend Christian Academy)– is a high-energy forward at FBCA who uses strength and physicality to dominate the paint on both ends of the floor. Has improved his perimeter skills a ton, and he rebounds aggressively while finishing through contact with his athleticism. Making him a consistent mismatch problem that sets the tone for his team.

6’7 Chris Reed (St. Pius X)– is an athletic, hard playing forward with tremendous upside. Plays extremely tough and crashes the glass with a workman like mentality. A double-double waiting to happen. Can defend multiple positions and is a high level shot blocker. His best basketball is ahead of him

6’2 Chase Wiley (Iowa Colony)– is a do it all guard who impacts the game with his playmaking instincts and savvy shot selection. He has next level vision, feel, and toughness. The heart and soul of this team. As he goes, so will his team. Competes on both ends of the court, and his leadership is always on full display.

6’4 Tyler Wyles (Marian)– is a big wing that has improved his outside shooting dramatically this season. Has turned himself into one of the best 3 point shooters in the SWAIC. Uses his strong frame to attack defenders and has no problem defending bigger players on the other end. One of the most improved players in the area.

6’2 Tyce Blodget (Katy Taylor)– is a crafty scoring guard who plays with a competitive edge, attacking the rim with savvy and converting tough looks. He creates offense for himself and others with quick reads and steady decision-making, while his steady perimeter touch and ability to score the ball in bunches, makes him one of the deadliest scorers in Houston.

6’2 Amare Hatchett (Montgomery)-is a super playmaker who elevates his game with creating instant offense and has a knack for timely scoring. He attacks downhill with confidence, and with his range from 3, he puts tremendous pressure on the defense. Uses length and effort to be a disruptive defender, his senior leadership has given his team a boost on both ends of the floor.
