SWAIC Session IV 2/23 Player Evals

Game 3 Good Vision Academy W 61 Marian 74

Jammir Major 6’0 Junior G – B-

Game high 20PTS 7/12 3/6 3PT

Jammir Major had a very impressive showing despite his team’s losing effort. He scored a game high 20 points in 23 minutes of play. The 6 foot combo guard displayed his crafty ball handling & pull up jumper combination that allowed him to get to his spots. Jammir is very athletic with a high motor. I would’ve liked to see him create shots for others more since he demands a lot of attention being the best player on the court. Overall, he had a good game.

Issa .L. Gadiaga 6’7 SR F – B

15PTS (6/12FG) 6REBS 3ASTS 1BLK

Issa displayed his all around game for Marian in a commanding win. The 6’7 forward plays at a good pace, attacks the rim well, and really sees the floor to create plays for others. Although he only had 3 assists he was the Draymond Green glue guy for Marian’s offense being able to play inside out. Issa has good mechanics on his jump shot he went an impressive 3/6 from 3pt range. Most impressively his communication to teammates helped anchor the defense and cause havoc. I would like to see his aggression more at times because he’s a matchup problem for most teams, but overall his game is solid.

Game 4 EOP Red 66 BTPA 57

Raken Vargas 6’1 SR PG St. Mary’s University Commit – B+

15PTS (5/13FG 3/7 3PT) 4ASTS 3STLS

Raken was once again a standout player for EOP in there 9 point win. Although he didn’t have his best shooting performance the shots and plays that he did make were all timely and momentum shifting. He can shoot the ball at an extremely high level. Raken stood out with his toughness and defensive aggression guarding 94 feet which at times led to a team turnover or on ball steal (3 Stls). This kid is tough and his body language never changes whether he’s on fire or having an off night. St Mary’s recruited a good one.

Isaiah Stewart  6’6 SR SF Northern Illinois University Sign- B+

18PTS (7/13FG) 6REBS 2ASTS 2STLS

There was a lot to like about the NIU sign Isaiah Stewart’s game despite BTPA’s tough loss. He scored a game high 18 points on an efficient 7/13 FG and grabbed 6 rebounds as well. The 6’6 SR has great size that compliments his inside out play style. He makes really good decisions with the ball, has great mechanics on his jump shot, and can also defend multiple positions. He has a high motor but at times displayed frustration on certain possessions that led to him not being as engaged. All in all, Isaiah’s height, skill set, and energy is something any college coach would love to have on their roster next year. NIU signed a good one.

Game 5 Xavier 87 EOP White 55

Montana Wheeler 5ft 11 SR PG Bradley University Commit A+

28PTS (10/17FG 5/8 3PT) 10ASTS 5 REBS 3STLS

The SWAIC’s top player put on a show once again for Xavier Academy in a 30 point win. Montana filled up the stat sheet with a 28 point double double (10asts). The Bradley commit simply doesn’t take plays off. He is always on the attack and was dialed in from long range hitting 5 3 pointers. On the other end of the floor he picked up 3 steals that led to easy transition baskets for himself and others. His head is always up and he puts pressure on the defense and referees with his downhill attack. All in all, a flat out stud.

Game 6 Marian 64 Good Vision Academy 65

Landon Veal 6’8 SF SOPH B

16PTS 6REBS 2ASTS

6’8 sophomore Landon Veal was Good Visions best player helping them round out a 1 point win vs Marian. Landon scored a team high 16points and pulled down 6 rebounds as well. He displayed his versatility scoring in the low post on dump off passes and putbacks, and also stepping outside stretching the defense hitting 2/5 3 pointers. Landon is very athletic, plays at a good pace, and has solid basketball iq as well. He can improve on his ball handling, which will allow him to play on the perimeter more and compliment his smooth jump shot. His overall potential is very high.

Mathias Baye 7ft 2 Jr C – B+

17PTS 10REBS 4BLKS

Mathias Baye once again dominated the interior for Marian high school despite the tough 1 point loss. He had a game high in points (17) rebounds (10) and blocks (4). Mathias is improving game after game with his quick feet and soft touch. The Marian coaching staff also did a great job running sets for Mathias that allowed him to establish himself down low and take advantage of mismatches. Mathias struggled at the free throw line shooting 3-8, which is something he needs to improve on. He could also be more aggressive demanding the ball because his height and athleticism are very hard to stop. Overall, Mathias performed well.
