SWAIC Session II 1/25 Player Evals

Game 3 : BTPA 47 Good Vision Academy Purple 49

Didi Zangum 6ft 9 SR PF B+

19PTS 6REBS 6BLKS 5STLS

Didi was once again very impressive stuffing the stat sheet leading Good Vision to another win. The 6’9 PF dominated both ends of the floor with his athleticism and high motor. Didi’s game high 19pts could’ve easily been 30 plus if he converted a few And 1s and 15 footers. More impressively he anchored his team’s defense with an insane 6 blocks and 5 steals. There were a few possessions where Didi’s frustration was noticeable after some team turnovers and breakdowns on defense which he can work on, but he was the best player on the floor easily.

Zion Ibekwe 6ft 6 JR G/F B-

18PTS (6-12FG) 8REBS 2STLS

Zion had another good showing for BTPA in his team’s 3 point loss. The combination of his athleticism, relentlessness, and his high motor make him a match up problem. Zion almost finished with a double double scoring a team high 18pts and grabbing 8 rebounds as well. He missed a few makable shots and was spead up at times which led to a few turnovers but overall his game was once again solid all around. I would like to see him outside on the perimeter more using his first step, ball handling, and athleticism to create shots for himself or his team.

Game 4 : Marian 47 EOP Red 61

Raken Vargas 5ft 11 SR PG B –

17PTS (7-12FG 3-4 3PM) 4 REBS 3 ASTS 2STLS

Raken had a good showing in his team’s 14 point win. The Saint Mary’s University (San Antonio) commit scored a game high 17 showing his smooth pull up jump shot. Raken gets to his spots well and has a quick release that allows him to get his shot off with no difficulty. His energy and high activity on both sides of the floor was on display all game and got his team going. He was great taking care of the ball (0 TO) and commanding the attack. Raken did miss some makable layups that were affected by contact. I’d also like to see him get his team involved more being the lead guard. All in all Raken is impressive.

Mathias Baye 7ft 2 JR C B

16PTS 16REBS 4BLKS

Despite the loss, Mathias impacted the game at a high level again for his team. The 7’2 JR dominated the glass (16rebs) and was a rim protector all game (4blks). Mathias again showed his great conditioning being active rim running all game long and finishing lobs and put backs. He was assertive down low calling for the ball but missed some bunnies. Mathias is solid with a lot of potential I believe that with some improved strength through training he is going to develop into a great all around player.
